This paper examines the selection system of the Polish police officers. To present this, the general organizational and educational characteristics, the process of recruitment, the personal and the qualification criteria, furthermore the eligibility requirements were studied. The research was performed by collecting and analyzing open sources in English and the relevant literature, besides a structured written and oral interview was applied. Previously, this topic was not addressed in Hungary, therefore it can be considered as knowledgeexpanding and suppletory. The conclusion is that the Polish Police - just like other European countries studied up-to-now (Ireland, England and Wales, Northern-Ireland, Scotland, the Czech Republic, Malta, Cyprus and Slovenia) - structure the police selection system on similar principles, taking into account territorial particularities, too.
