Aim: The purpose of this article is to introduce the FBI-NNI International Unit, which is the only one of its kind in the world, where FBI agents and Hungarian investigators work together to solve cases affecting both countries.
Methodology: The study describes the history of the establishment and operation of the International Unit, based on reports and personal experience, and introduces the legal background as well.
Findings: The effectiveness of the bi-national joint unit and the many successful joint investigations that have been carried out together are the basis for the commitment to further cooperation on both the Hungarian and American sides.
Value: In addition to the more widely known cooperation forums for international criminal information exchange, the activities of the Joint Investigation Unit in the US relationship can be instructive.
