Rachel Boba Santos: Crime analysis with crime mapping - Review

Abstract

Aim: Introducing the crime analysis standards used in the United States with a detailed textbook that presents all aspects of the work of a crime analyst, written by an author who participates in the standard-setting committee of the International Association of Crime Analysts (IACA).
Methodology: Detailed study of the book and comparison of its content with the Hungarian criminal analysis methodology.
Findings: The book is a full-fledged textbook. In addition, the complete American methodology of criminal cartography and criminal analysis developed in 2014 presents the requirements for analysis as a profession and crime analysts and analytical bodies of law enforcement agencies.
Value: The analytical structure and methodology described in the textbook partially overlap with the Hungarian methodology. However, it contains many essential elements worth studying that can be useful in the work of criminal analysts working in the Hungarian police.
