Aim: Those working in the field of law enforcement join the various law enforcement agencies not “just” arriving from the society, but also returning there, as their task is to serve the community, not least on behalf of the community.) In other words, law enforcement professionals need to be aware of the socio - economic conditions of both their narrower and wider environments in order
to work effectively. As a conclusion, prospective professional officers need to become familiar with these disciplines during their law enforcement training, thus broadening their horizons and problem-solving skills.
Methodology: The outlined problem, i.e. law enforcement agencies and society, law enforcement agencies in modern societies, has a considerable, not only international literature, the processing of which highlights (also) why it is necessary to teach the disciplines indicated in the title. It is worth examining how much of the TDK (paper for Scientific Students’ Associations) / BA-MA thesis has dealt with social science issues in the last decade.
Finding: The conclusion of the study clearly shows that it would be necessary to include the teaching of different social science disciplines in law enforcement training. It is clear that if and when such subjects are taught, several of the students would write a TDK and / or BA-MA thesis on such a topic, which may be of value in themselves, or even prove to be useful for the competent bodies. During the preparation of their dissertations, these students also learn the special methodology of the social sciences, which they can use in their daily work, but also if the given law enforcement agency aims to analyze and evaluate the social situation of its own staff.
Value: The contents of the paper confirm that certain social science knowledge is needed not only for the sake of tradition, but also to achieve more productive work and greater social embedded.
